Wedding DJ Dartford Thank You Card

Here’s a little surprise that I received today – a Wedding DJ Dartford Thank You Card.

Nestled amoungst the brown bill envelopes, pizza offers, estage agent flyers, broadband offers and my lovely Wedding Reception Planners returned to me in the post was an unrecognised white envelope – maybe it was that late valentines day card I was expecting from……….?

I eagerly opened it up and found this lovely thank you card from Jo & Danny who had booked me for their wedding reception in Dartford.

It was a really loverly surprise that brightened up my day. They are a lovely couple who could not thank me enough on the night but it proved to me that it is the finer little details that really do bring your wedding to life for you, your guests and your chosen vendors.

I suppose this is why so many of ‘my’ brides love the Wedding Reception Planner that I provide them with, so they can make sure everything is as they wish.

I will send them an anniversary card later this year as a surprise for them – do not let them know before though ok!!

Wedding Favours – Yes or No?

The tradition of giving wedding favours goes back many years but is starting to lose favour with cost conscious brides and grooms, so will you be giving out wedding favours – Yes or No?

As a rule of thumb all guests should receive the same wedding favours to emphasise that no guest is more important than another. Traditionally favours would consist of 5 items to represent the future health, wealth, happiness, longevity and fertility of the happy couple, often taking the form of 5 sugared almonds per guest. In recent times couples have moved away from this idea and favours come in all sorts of sizes, colours and prices including:

Flowers
Personalised chocolate bars
Tins of mints
Packs of seeds
Lottery tickets
Candles
Love Hearts
Alcohol miniatures
Small picture frames
Bubbles
Fans
Bath salts
Fortune cookies
Table trivia cards
Wine glass charms
Lip Balm
Fridge magnets
Key fobs
IPads (I wish!)

However do your guests really want these items? Often at the end of an evening, once you and your guests have disappeared, I look around the room and see many of these favours that have been left behind because they are either not wanted or forgotten about which is a bit disappointing (although after all these years I’m quite partial to a few handfuls of sugared almonds driving home!).

If you have 100 – 200 guests coming those favours will have cost quite a bit in terms of either money buying the favours, or your, or someone else’s, precious time in making them and I have to ask would that £200, £300……. whatever the amount of money is or time, be better spent else where – maybe a better honeymoon or something for the house when you return?

I’m only letting you know what I see on a regular basis – only you can decide if it is to be wedding favours – yes or no?

Wedding DJ Skills

What skills should your Wedding DJ have?

A simple enough question to ask but not a very easy one to answer.

These are many different answers to this question, Wedding DJ Skills First Dance Image all of which could be correct. A great Wedding DJ will have a great number of wide and varied skills, some of which will be ideal for your wedding. Your Wedding DJ will need the right skills for your wedding , and that is possibly the better question to ask – what skills will my Wedding DJ need for my wedding?

A quick search of the internet for ‘Wedding DJ’ will reveal hundreds of so called ‘specialist’ Wedding DJs – but what exactly is a ‘specialist’ Wedding DJ? Now I have performed at hundreds and hundreds of weddings and I am not really sure, I might be one without even knowing it! – perhaps you should ask those who claim to be a ‘specialist’ Wedding DJ.

I believe that your Wedding DJ should suit your own particular needs and the many ‘specialist McWedding DJs’ out there might not be suitable for your particular wedding.

When choosing your DJ to perform at your wedding here are a few skills that might be required:

Experience
Particular equipment eg uplighting, video, karaoke
Personality
Ability to read a crowd
Wide musical knowledge
Specific knowledge of a particular music genre
Music programming skills
Prompt professional service – Bert the Builder & part time ‘specialist’ wedding DJ may not be right for you
Mixing skills
Singing
Game playing to keep the kids occupied
Master of ceremony skills (NB There is no substitute for the real thing!)
Wedding Planning skills

and so on…

What is important is finding the right DJ with the right skills required for your wedding. Only you can decide that, and it is your task to find the DJ that matches your requirements.

The charming barn has exposed timber beams and high vaulted ceiling and has some beautiful grounds for those all important wedding photos, that simply cannot be matched by a typical hotel function room.

Faversham Golf Club is well worth investigating for your wedding reception or party function. It has a large bar and dining area as part of the large function room on the first floor. Patio doors open from the function room giving access to the veranda with spectacular views over the golf course, which gives plenty of opportunities for those all important wedding photos.
